Managing Product Subcategories

Registering Subcategories

We click the Main menu / button subcategories to access the window manage subcategories where we can register a

subcategory or search for an existing one.

To create a subcategory, we click the option add. A window with 2 fields opens:

• field category: we enter the category to which we would like to link the subcategory we are registering (for example,

consumables for the subcategory power supplies, fire detection control panel for the detectors subcategories,

detection devices or push-buttons etc.)

• field subcategory: we enter the subcategory we would like to register (for example, power supplies, detectors, fire

detection control panels or push-buttons etc.)

We click the option create to validate the subcategory registration. Data of the subcategory we have just created is displayed

on-screen (category name and subcategory name) . There are 2 icons on the right, the icon down arrow (which allows us

to edit the subcategory to query its data) and the icon paper and pencil (with which we can modify or delete that subcategory

during the registration process).

When we click the option cancel we proceed to abort the registration process.

Searching for, displaying and querying subcategories

From the Main menu / button warehouse / button subcategories we access the window subcategories management.

We click the option Search. A window opens where we have to enter the search filters:

• in the field category we key in the name of the category to which the subcategory we are looking for belongs;

alternatively, we may enter a search pattern. If we leave the field categories blank, the system will do the search

for us based on the following criterion.

• in the field subcategory we key in the name of the subcategory we are looking for; alternatively, we may enter a

search pattern. If we leave the field subcategory blank, the system will display all the subcategories registered

that match the first filter.

After entering the search filter, we click the option Display. We access the manage subcategories screen displaying all

the subcategories that match the search criteria we have entered.

We locate the subcategory we are looking for. We click the icon down arrow located on the right to display their details:

category and subcategory.

Modifying subcategories

From the Main menu / button warehouse / button subcategories we access the window subcategories management.

We click the option Search. A window opens where we have to enter the search filter in order to locate the subcategory we

would like to modify. We click the option Display. We access the manage subcategories screen displaying all the

subcategories that match the search criteria we have entered.

We locate the subcategory we would like to modify. We click the icon paper and pencil on the right. We access a window

that gathers the chosen category’s data. We proceed to modify the information of our interest (category and/or subcategory).

We click the option update to validate the entered changes or the option cancel to abort said modification process.

Eliminating subcategories

G3w allows us to eliminate a subcategory from our system as long as there are no products linked to it.

From the Main menu / button warehouse / button subcategories we access the window subcategories management.

We click the option Search. A window opens where we have to enter the search filters in order to locate the subcategory

we would like to eliminate. We click the option Display. We access the manage subcategories screen displaying all the

subcategories that match the search criteria we have entered.

We locate the subcategory we would like to eliminate. We click the icon paper and pencil on the right. We access a window

that gathers the chosen category’s data. We click the option eliminate to delete the category from the system. The system

asks us to confirm the deletion and informs that "the selected item will be deleted". We click the option validate to validate

the elimination.

We click the option cancel to abort the elimination process.
